Behind The Scenes - When I Grow Up

 

Enjoy a small glimpse of the world Colin Hesterly created for When I Grow Up, his latest short film that explores a young boy's dreams for the future. Here's what he has to say about the film

"As a kid my imagination was my closest friend, and I spent a lot of time dreaming about my future. I wanted to explore the jungles like Indiana Jones, or search the oceans alongside Captain Nemo. Over time I caught on that these people were just fictional characters but that spirit of imagination and adventure never left. I eventually had to "grow up" and become an adult. So I chose to pursue a career that was founded on the ideas of exploration and imagination. I became a filmmaker, and "When I Grow Up" is a just a simple reminder of those dreams."

To complement our growth in 2012 (new studio, new creative director, bigger team) we wanted to evolve our branding. Colin Hesterly took the lead and here's a look at how our iconic new identity came to be. 

 

Nate

It's an honor to welcome Executive Producer and Partner Nate Barr to The Academy. We've been friends with Nate for years, but until recently he ran our much admired crosstown competitor, Oh Hello. The opportunity to join forces outweighed all the reasons to compete, and we are thrilled (read: humbled and ecstatic) to have Nate on our team. Prior to founding Oh Hello, Nate produced for Superfad and Digital Kitchen.
